Pilates is designed in such a way that everyone can move their body without putting much strain and stress, however one should not jump doing Pilates on their own. It needs complete guidance. Today I will talk about Pilates for special needs.
Let's start with old age:
As I have mentioned on my previous blog that age doesn't matter. For old age where the muscles deteriorates or starts degenerating it's more important to exercise. While other exercise can put too much pressure, stress and strain Pilates can ease that and with ease can make the movement happen and can balance the muscle development. Pilates helps with osteoporosis as well.
What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis, or porous bone, is a disease characterized by low bone mass and it not only affects the old age but even middle age women/men also. It leads to bone fragility and increase susceptibility to fractures, especially of the hip, spine and wrist. 80% of women are affected by Osteoporosis. People with osteoporosis should first take medical advice before starting any exercise. But exercise is a must as it is one of the best way to build bone mass, improve posture and balance. There are certain PILATES exercises which builds strength, they are less prone to injuries.
