Diastasis Recti- A condition where the large abdominal muscles separate and is very common in women who deliver a high birth rate weight baby or have multiple pregnancy.

Symptoms- There may be bulge in the middle of the stomach, especially when you contract your abdominal muscles. Few more symptoms includes.

  • lower back pain

  • poor posture

  • constipation

  • bloating

  • self doubt or body shaming.

All the above happened to me especially the last one. After my first pregnancy being a new mother I was overwhelmed with challenges forgetting to take care and follow the instructions by my doctor that I have diastasis recti as well as umbilical hernia and the separation is of 4 fingers and I have to start from scratch to build up my stomach muscles again. I ignored it and the situation became worst after my second pregnancy. Doctors told me if I don’t go for operation it can be fatal I was tensed and I was not ready to go under the knife again.

Body shaming- Body shaming manifests in many ways by criticising your own appearance, through a judgement or comparison to another person. We are actually our own judge we are the one who gives others opportunity to shame us. Every body has a story to tell, every body is different , every body is beautiful and last but not the least every body needs to be appreciated no matter what. Sometimes by mistake or deliberately we shame our body or others. What’s more important is how to fight it and find peace within ourselves so that we can fall in love again with our body.

Whatever little step you take for yourself , for your body say you go for a leisure walk, did some dancing anything appreciate yourself that you moved today.

Resolution: I have start working out, I have start appreciating every time I moved my body my friends and family helped. Let’s make a little promise to ourselves that we will appreciate everyone, motivate everyone and will love our body.

“You have been criticising

yourself for years and it hasn’t

worked. Try approving of

yourself and see what happens.” Louis Hay
